Breakfast Roundtable: "Translating Finance & Accounting Information to Non-Accounting Professionals"

When:  Mar 26, 2019 from 07:30 AM to 09:00 AM (ET)
Associated with  Charlotte Chapter
Please join your colleagues of the Charlotte Chapter of the IMA for a breakfast roundtable discussion on the topic of Translating Finance & Accounting Information to Non-Accounting Professionals.

This event will be worth 1 hour of non-NASBA CPE. Please include your IMA member number when you register.

We all want to have a greater value than just living in spreadsheets, debits, and credits and generating reports. Communicating with our organizations on variance analysis, performance metrics, budget preparation, providing advice and business coaching will propel accountants from just “bean counters” to valued leaders. But how do we do so effectively and enhance our perceived value outside of the finance function so that we can have maximum impact on our organizations? Join us on March 26th, 2019 to share your stories and get ideas from other accounting and finance professionals on strategies to become a more effective communicator and business partner.

Attendees will share and contribute to the discussion of their different experiences with the following:

Communicating standard reports and performance metrics whether it be through email, hard paper, Tableau or PowerPoint - What works well, what doesn't?
Verbal communication. How can we get non-accountants to better understand what we are saying and the analysis we prepare?
Sharing practical tips. What have you learned from your leaders about how you should communicate with them? What feedback have they provided?
Relationships: Strategies used to build relationships with individuals outside of accounting and finance function? How do you build trust with others?
Financial/business acumen: What can we do to increase the financial acumen of our leaders and thereby equip them to make better decisions? Employees need to understand their role in strategy execution, how they, directly and indirectly, affect your company results, how they can better support your interrelated business systems, processes, and functions?
