The Charlotte Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) will host its annual Student Night dinner on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at The Doubletree Inn - Gateway Village starting at 5:00pm.
The cost of the dinner is $10 for students that register and prepay online, and $15 for those students that pay at the door. The cost is $25 for professionals and university professors that register and prepay, and $30 for those that pay at the door. The deadline to register is October 11, 2018.
**PLEASE NOTE** Parking validation for the Cedar Street Parking Deck (located at 116 S. Cedar St. between 4th and Trade) will be provided at the event. We cannot provide parking validation for the deck connected to the hotel. Please park in the Cedar Street Deck for parking reimbursement.Student Night provides an opportunity for finance and accounting students from surrounding area colleges and universities to connect with experienced accounting and financial professionals, including Chief Financial Officers, Controllers, CMAs, and CPAs.
The program will include a panel of recent accounting graduates who have made the transition from student to professional in a management accounting role. Many area companies will be represented including
Duke Energy,
Bank of America,
Grant Thornton Advisory,
Charlotte Pipe & Foundry,
Robert Half - Accountemps, and
Barings. The panel will address topics such as:
- How did you get your job?
- What do you actually do? What is a typical week?
- What was the biggest challenge you had transitioning from college to a career?
- What do you wish you had done differently in college to prepare you for the job search and the first two years of your career?
The evening schedule is as follows:
5:00 - 5:30pm before dinner networking
5:45 - 6:15pm dinner
6:15 - 7:45pm panel presentation and Q&A
7:45 - 8:00pm after dinner networking
