The Institute of Management Accountants’ Charlotte Chapter Announces Student Night on October 22nd
The Charlotte Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) will host its annual Student Night dinner on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. The event will be held at The Doubletree-Gateway Village located at 895 West Trade Street in Charlotte, NC 28202 starting at 5:00 pm.
The cost of the dinner is $10 for students that register and prepay and $15 for those students that pay at the door. The cost is $25 for professionals and university professors that register and prepay and $30 for those that pay at the door. Free parking is included. The deadline to register is 6:00 pm, Thursday, October 17, 2019.
Student Night provides an opportunity for finance and accounting students from surrounding area colleges and universities to connect with experienced accounting and financial professionals, including Chief Financial Officers, Controllers, CMAs, and CPAs.
The program will include a panel of experienced corporate finance professionals. This program will provide an overview and discussion of various career paths that are available to accounting and finance graduates, beyond the traditional auditing and tax role with a public accounting firm.
Panel members will address topics including:
- What job(s) do recent accounting graduates hold at your organization?
- What does this job entail?
- What traits make someone good at this job?
- What are the key positive and negative aspects of this job?
- If a student has an interest in a particular job, what can they do now to better prepare themselves for that job.
- How can the student learn more about a specific career path of interest.

5:00-5:30 before dinner networking
5:30-6:00 dinner
6:00-7:45 panel presentation and Q&A
7:45-8:00 after dinner networking
Free parking vouchers will be provided for the Cedar Street Garage, 116 S. Cedar Street between 4th and Trade Streets. We do not have access to free parking for the Parking Deck connected to the Hotel.
